Leave a Legacy

Leave a Gift in Your Will and Help Future Generations Soar

Did you know the Air Cadet Charity provides support and funding for activities for young people which develop their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals?

Our grants enable incredible opportunities for them to learn, grow, and develop skills that will last a lifetime – from flying and gliding to leadership and teamwork.

By choosing to leave a gift to the Air Cadet Charity in your Will, you can help us continue this vital work for generations to come. Your thoughtful gesture, no matter the size, can make a real difference by:

  • Providing life-changing experiences: Your gift can help fund activities like flying experiences, adventurous training expeditions, and overseas camps that many cadets wouldn't otherwise have the chance to experience.
  • Investing in young people's futures: The skills and confidence cadets gain often set them up for success in their future careers and personal lives. Your legacy can help us empower more young people to reach their full potential.
  • Ensuring the Air Cadet spirit continues: By supporting the charity, you'll be helping us to ensure the Royal Air Force Air Cadets is vibrant and accessible for all young people who are interested in aviation, adventure, and community spirit.
What kind of impact can my gift have?

Imagine a group of young people getting their first experience of flying thanks to a grant funded by a legacy gift. Or a team of cadets learning valuable leadership skills on a challenging hike made possible by your generosity. Your contribution can provide a range of grants which open doors and create memories that last a lifetime for Air Cadets.

5 Reasons to make a Will:
  1. Ensure your wishes are followed: With a Will, you get to decide who inherits your assets. Without one, legal rules determine how your estate is distributed, which may not align with what you would have wanted.
  2. Make things easier for your loved ones: A Will can significantly simplify things for your family and friends during what is already a difficult time for them. It provides clear instructions and helps prevent disputes.
  3. Help to minimise inheritance tax: If you leave money or possessions to a registered charity in your Will, those gifts are usually exempt from inheritance tax. So, if you care about a particular charity, including a gift to them in your Will can reduce the overall value of your estate that might be taxed.
  4. You can support causes you care about: This means even after you're gone, you can still help support the things you believe in and make a difference in the world.
  5. It can be changed if your life changes: Don't think that once you make a Will, it's set in stone forever! If things in your life change – like if you get married, have kids, or even just change your mind about who you want to have something – you can always update your Will. It's not a one-time thing!
How to Leave a Legacy

Leaving a gift in your Will is simpler than you might think. You can either:

  • Make a new Will: When you're writing your Will for the first time, you can include a gift to the Air Cadet Charity.
  • Update your existing Will: If you already have a Will, you can add a codicil (a simple addition) to include a legacy gift.

We strongly suggest contacting a professional for advice when drawing up or amending your Will. A solicitor will be able to advise you on leaving charitable gifts when making a Will. When choosing a solicitor, we suggest you check how much they charge and, if possible, get recommendations from others before enlisting.

To include the Air Cadet Charity in your Will, you will need to provide the following details:

Registered Name – Air Cadet Charity CIO

Registered Charity Number – 1160910

Charity Address – Air Cadet Charity CIO, RAF Air Cadets Headquarters, RAF Cranwell, Sleaford, NG34 8HB

Types of Gifts You Can Leave
  • Residuary Gift: This is a gift of the remainder or a percentage of your estate after all other gifts and expenses have been paid.
  • Pecuniary Gift: This is a gift of a specific sum of money.
  • Specific Gift: This is a gift of a particular item, such as property or shares.

Many supporters choose to leave a share of their estate (a residuary gift) for the simple reason that it keeps pace with inflation and enables you to ensure that your family and friends are cared for.
