Aviation opportunities sit at the heart of the RAF Air Cadet experience. In line with our mission to ensure access for all, the Air Cadet Charity is launching a dedicated Immersive Technology Grant programme to help ATC squadrons purchase flight simulator and Esports equipment.

This initiative aims to ensure that every cadet, regardless of location or resources, can experience the thrill of virtual flight and competitive aviation-themed training.

Applications can only be submitted via the ‘Apply for a grant’ area of the Air Cadet Charity website. The new Immersive Technology application function will be available from 1 December 25.

To assist with demand, we have divided the application process into three initial phases:

Phase 1: First application window opens 1 December 25 - 5 January 26
Open to squadrons that do not have any flight simulator or E-Sports equipment.

‍Phase 2: First application window opens 2 March 26 - 30 March 26
‍Open to squadrons who may already have equipment but would like to add to existing kit with one of the available options.  

‍Phase 3: First application window opens 30 April 26 - 1 June 26
Open to squadrons who require a grant to update existing kit.

Further grant windows for each phase throughout 2026 will be confirmed in due course.

We anticipate strong interest in this programme and expect to receive a high number of applications. As such, we kindly ask for your patience and understanding if application dates are adjusted to meet demand.

The charity extends sincere thanks to all squadrons that have previously applied for funding for flight simulators and Esports equipment. Your enthusiasm and feedback have directly shaped this new initiative, designed specifically to meet a clear and growing need within the organisation. Please note that you will need to reapply when your respective phase and window open.
